Brianna’s Overseas Journey

  • It was my childhood dream.

  • Me being in my own way — I was hesitant to promote my business to make it what I need it to be in order to maintain life not just abroad but on my own (without settling for a corporate gig).

  • God. I was growing tired of running on the hamster wheel, Amber was a guest speaker on an expat channel. When I reached out she was informed and just a pleasure to work with.

  • It was a beautiful experience. In my first month, I did all the touristy things so my expenses were more. But once I got that out of my system, about $1000USD per month covered my rent, daily expenses & food.

The people were so kind, I just wasn’t too crazy about the food because in that particular city (Puerto Vallarta) it was catered more to the tourists.

I was content with just being by the ocean but there was a lot to do, which I loved, and it was affordable to take trips to nearby cities & states.

One challenge I faced was trying not to get treated like an American, lol! Sometimes I had to turn up on a taxi because they would surcharge the rates thinking I didn’t know the normal rates. Now, this was not a challenge for me, but I noticed others had a hard time adjusting to a slower pace of life.

  • Yes, I never imagined going to Mexico since it’s so close but I enjoyed it more than I anticipated.

  • It confirmed that I was not crazy 🤣 I knew there was a life better than what we see and are told to aspire to in America. I didn’t have the proof until I took the jump.

  • The world really is your oyster. People say that because it sounds good, but when you mention moving abroad, most will let their fears of the unknown stop them & they try to stop you too. There’s no way to experience the diversity of life if you stay in a box.

  • Personally, I will be moving back to Mexico for some time.

Professionally, I’m ready put myself out there & work with more people.
